Grandma's Cranberry Muffins and Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

Makes 16 muffins

Muffins
2 1/2 Tbsp melted butter

1 cup sugar

2 cups flour

2 1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 cup evaporated milk

2 cups whole cranberries

Caramel Sauce

1/4 lb butter

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup whipping cream

1 tsp vanilla


Directions

Preheat oven to 350º.

Mix the melted butter and sugar together till all the sugar is wet. Add in flour, baking powder, salt, and evaporated milk. Mix till everything is incorporated. Add in the cranberries and mix.

Line a muffin tin and fill cups 3/4 full.

Bake for 20 minutes

Caramel Sauce

Melt the butter over low heat or over a double boiler. Stir in the sugar and dissolve. Do not boil but let the sugar and butter thicken. Add in the whipping cream and heat on low for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently, ensuring it doesn't boil or burn. Remove from the heat and add the vanilla.
