Buttermilk Syrup
Ingredients
1 1/4 cup butter
1 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp baking soda
2 1/2 tsp vanilla
Directions
In a large sauce pan, melt butter. Add buttermilk and sugar and mix well. Add baking soda. Mixture will expand upon adding baking soda so be sure that your pan is large enough to allow this. Heat and mix for 5-7 minutes. Be sure all the sugar is dissloved. The mixture should begin to turn a dark caramel color but the top layer will be so frothy that you wont be able to tell until you remove the mixture from the heart. After removing from the heat, add vanilla.
