Homemade Sandwich Bread
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups warm milk
1 packet rapid rise yeast (2 1/2 tsp)
1 Tbsp sugar
3 1/2 - 4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp butter
Directions
In a stand mixer, add warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes for the yeast to activate.
Start with adding 3.5 cups of the flour and salt. If the dough needs more flour, add additional flour till the dough is a sticky texture. Mix the dough at level 2 for no more than 4 minutes. If kneading by hand, knead for 10 minutes. Add the room temperature butter to the mixer and mix till combined.
Oil a large glass bowl and place the dough in it to rise for about an hour or till doubled in size.
Punch the air out of the dough and roll out onto a floured surface.
Use a rolling pin to roll flat so that you can roll the dough up into a burrito shape before placing into loaf pan.
Cover with a lid or plastic and let rise again for an hour.
Preheat oven to 350°. Bake with lid on for 20 minutes. Remove lid and raise the temperature to 400° for another 10 minutes.
Let the bread cool completely before slicing.
